excerpt from Always Together series
“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity.” -Jesus (John 17:22-23)
One of the greatest miracles that we often overlook in our weekly gatherings and services is perhaps the reality that God has joined together thousands and thousands of people from different places, countries, cultures, regions, races, and stature; and has united them under one roof: God’s house. The church is a great big family made up of different people with different stories, backgrounds, and experiences. But the great miracle is when God begins to work in us, we begin to have new thoughts, changes in our character and attitudes; is when God begins to renew our minds to the mind of Christ.
Jesus’ prayer was that through the unity found in the church, the world would come to know Christ, through something different and special. God’s desire is for the church, being united, could be the answer to this divided world that is off-course.
Take time to examine your relationships, friendships, your marriage, attitudes, and see where were could be limiting God’s power in our lives. God started the fire in our hearts that brought us life. It is our job to care for and maintain our relationships between God and also among the family of God — the church.
“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” Ephesians 4:2-3
